Crucial Tips for Navigating a Kundalini Awakening

Use this list as your guide. I tell my clients to read through the list and notice what lights up for you. Try it. Experiment with it. If it doesn’t feel good within 48 hours- ditch it. You’ll get a pretty quick yes or no when something works to help ground this energy.

  • Finding a therapist/ spiritual worker to guide you through the process

  • Cold showers (especially on the parts in which the energy is of high voltage)

  • Doing emotional work- I recommend only turning towards what is already arising. With a Kundalini awakening you don’t really have to go looking for anything- the material will erupt on it’s own.

  • Learning about parts work & inner child work & treating each feeling as if it was a child that had a message to teach you.

  • Any form of bodywork ( Emotional release therapy, massage, chiropractor etc.)

  • Acupuncture

  • Soft yoga (restorative & yin)

  • Imagine all of your energy centers,, blocks as open (creates softness) and repeat : open, open, open

  • Releasing any unconscious or conscious resistance towards the process, the intensity of the feelings, the energetic symptoms etc.

  • If you are sensing resistance/ blocks- thank them. Whether they are mental, physical, energetic, emotional. They are trying to help you manage this overwhelming opening in the psyche.

  • With Kriyas: You can move with them physically but I recommend visualizing what the movement wants to do. Many times the energy wants you to move in ways you are not physically capable of. Remember you get to choose when to give into Kriyas, not the other way around.

  • Imagine elemental energy (water, fire, wind, spiritual light) helping clear any excess energy or blocks in the system.

  • Imagine a divine mother or father, spiritual being, animal that can help sit with you during a purge and say compassionate words to you when you need it the most

  • Changing your diet. Protein when the energy is too intense.

  • Intuitive eating (let the energy guide you)

  • Strength training (grounds energy)

  • Free form dancing

  • TURN TOWARDS the pain

  • Conscious Complaining (allow yourself to dislike the process as much as you want, and let all that energy out verbally)

  • Releasing angry/ frustrated energy through stomping, punching a punching bag, thrashing arms and legs on a bed, running or exercising whilst picturing the angry trigger so you can move the energy

  • Trauma release exercises (great way to move energy out of the body)

  • Expression of energy through dance, painting, singing, journalling. Expressing emotions by crying, yelling, screaming, words. Any expressive arts.

  • Understanding the intelligence of this energy and of your divine path. Knowing that you are held and everything is exactly as it should be

  • Establishing a deep 1-1 connection to god (faith is HUGE)

  • Knowing there is no way to get this wrong and that the energy is guiding you to the next right thing

  • Periods of ease & difficulty are not a direct result of anything you did right or wrong. It just is.

  • Talking to the Kundalini energy and letting it know when you need a break

  • Imagining your chakras opening

  • Ice packs (to be placed on areas with big energetic blocks)

  • Taking every single day as it comes. Leaving your schedule as open as possible and not trying to plan ahead and take each day as a new canvas of feelings and sensations.

  • Sexual release through orgasm

  • Being outside & in nature. Walking Barefoot to ground. Sitting in the sun.

  • Meditation (this can increase energy and it can be too much and you will need to stop all spiritual practice).

  • Learning to sit with your sensations

  • Stopping periodically your spiritual practice and digestion of spiritual content

  • Permission to rest and to be fatigued as long as you need to be

  • Cocooning and withdrawing for a period of time

  • Warm baths with epsom salts

  • Eliminate as much external noise as possible

  • Do not try too hard at anything, treat yourself like a pregnant or new mother

  • Clean up your space and create sacred spaces to nest in

  • Music

  • However you can get into your body and ask it, on a basic level, what does it need to help ground this energy? Trust your answer.

  • Grounding practice where you imagine a thick chord coming from tailbone into the earth. Imagine plugging in.

  • Proper supplements and nutrition

  • Speaking about the energy and awakening to someone who will be your witness and hold space for you

  • Be as soft and easy with yourself as you can. You are in a huge transformational process. Forgiveness of yourself, your body, your situation is key.

  • Create an energetic boundary (6 feet around) of a vibrant color of choice

  • Seek out comfort & safety in every moment. Especially before doing any emotional work. I have a whole list of my favorite soothing techniques on this blog. Try out as many of those as you like.

  • Know that each emotion you are feeling is on it’s way out

  • Remind yourself that this is a natural process and you are not going crazy.
